Archway, Custom Ron travelled to the North side of Tucson to the high desert home of Lisa and Darin Hoffman for this next home improvement visit. The Hoffmans asked Ron to come and help them create a Spanish style rounded archway to match the one in the other part of the house. Ron was more than happy to help them with this added touch to their home.

Door, Cutting Off an Interior Prehung interior doors are sized to allow a 3/4-inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. This gap lets the door swing without binding on the carpet or floorcovering. If thicker carpeting or a larger threshold is installed, a small portion of the door may need to be cut off with a circular saw.

Door, Pocket - How to re-install Now you see it, now you don’t. That’s the beauty of the pocket door. It’s actually a sliding door that goes up inside the wall, which some real advantages. For one thing, they don’t require room to swing, and when they’re completely open, they’re completely out of sight. However, those hidden parts can make them tricky to replace when something goes wrong. The pocket door we replaced had a missing latch, a track that was noisy and didn’t slide very smoothly, and some alignment problems.

Door, Widening A Ron’s wife Lynn invited an architect to their new home to help with their long, winding hallway. To provide a more spacious feeling, Pat suggested that they consider widening the entry to the dining room. Ron and Lynn thought this was a great idea, so Ron got started.

Archways In many homes, this is standard - to have a squared-off opening, not only in the entryway, but in other rooms throughout your house. If you want to give a squared-off opening a dramatic new look, you can create an archway.

Door Mat, Wooden (PDF) This oversized striped doormat is not only attractive, but also extremely practical.
Debris can easily be scraped off the soles of shoes, and the weather-resistant wood can be hosed off with water. The doormat also provides sure footing during rain because water runs into the spaces between the wooden strips. An original plan offered by the Wowimadeit web site.
