Trebuchet, Tiny Floating Arm Here is the second project, a floating arm straight drop trebuchet. I started design and build after seeing pictures of a real machine that would throw 12lb balls 300 feet, just from a 470lb counterweight. The tip of the arm stands about 9” above the floor.

Trebuchet, Small Hinged Fixed Counterweight This trebuchet came about when I realized that the frame I had made for #5 wouldn’t accommodate a hinged counter weight arm, and I had to build a second frame that would allow me to use the arm I had already made.

Trebuchet, Small Floating Arm This floating arm trebuchet was inspired by an e-mail from a site visitor, and built a trebuchet that could launch a hollow computer mouse ball 57 feet. Impressed, I decided that this would make a nice little project.

Trebuchet, Small Hinged Counter Weight This trebuchet came about cos I haven’t done any treb work for over a year, and got the bug again. And, I’d been meaning to build a 6 feet tall HCW treb to throw golf balls (or similar) but wanted it to look traditional. This meant lots of angles in pieces of wood and lots of wood crossing and joining.

Trebuchet, Big Floating Arm Here is my first non-lollipop trebuchet. It was originally a kit bought from the USA, but I had to discard most of the wood. I bought fresh wood and some MDF for the base and cut and drilled the base and the legs.

Trebuchet plans One of the first things a newbie Trebuchet builder learns is that these machines pack a lot of punch! Never mind that you’ve just hurled a bowling ball through your neighbors greenhouse, don’t neglect to notice that the sling is still whipping around pretty good and the Counter Weight (CW) is still fairly energetic and perfectly capable of knocking you on your butt (possibly crushing your pelvis in the process.)
