Aquarium Plywood Glass I had very little experience building anything prior to attempting this type of project. I researched as much as I could find on the internet and through discussion groups. Once I felt I had all I needed, I jumped right in and tried to make my tank as fast as possible. (Hint: taking your time is best) One smart thing I did, was planning on building a small version of my tank first. The theory being, if it leaks, I won not have a ton or more of water on the floor.

Aquarium Plywood Tank When it comes to tank sizes, bigger is better! My fish were outgrowing my 33 gallon and I needed a bigger tank. The local fish stores wanted too much for their tanks. I had read about plywood tanks before and I do enjoy DIY projects. The solution was to build my own tank.

Aquarium Stand 55 Gallon w/Internal 10 Gallon This is the 55 gallon tank stand I designed. I personally did not want to spend the hundreds of dollars on a stand, and to have it not designed specifically for me. Instead, I spent roughly $130 on one that was designed specifically for me...and built by me.

Aquarium Stand for a large tank Here you see a stand design that takes advantage of wood’s best qualities while accommodating its faults. The five pairs of legs with their plywood inserts were assembled first. Note the routed groove for the plywood, the notches for the shelves, and in the background the half inch space under the plywood.

Aquarium Stand, DIY Step by step guide to build an aquarium stand. This was my first solo attempt at creating an aquarium stand. In the end it worked out fairly well and I have learned enough that I feel I can tackle a stand for the 135 Gallon tank that we will be purchasing shortly. In total this project cost approximately $85 Canadian for the Stand, Canopy and all the electronics (light fixture and bulbs).

Aquarium Stand, Fish - 75 Gallon After talking about it for years, we finally decided to embark on a new hobby of fishkeeping. Myself being the sort who is incapable of doing much on a small scale, I suggested we start with a 75 gallon aquarium.
